Dr.Khurana has been associated with a number of Expert Groups and Committees on Housing, constituted by the Government of India, Planning Commission, Reserve Bank of India, State Governments etc. Dr. Khurana was also a member of 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Five Year Plan Working Groups on Housing. He is also a Member of the Board of Management of Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Chandigarh. Dr.Khurana has authored 6 books, edited a number of publications and reports, undertaken a number of studies, and contributed about 125 Articles and Papers on Cooperative Housing and related subjects at the International Conferences, National Dailies and to several journals. Dr.Khurana is also the Editor of 'NCHF Bulletin'- a monthly journal of NCHF dedicated to Cooperative Housing. He has also served as 'Sole Arbitrator' in the matter of disputes between primary housing cooperative, local bodies and the Registrar regarding membership, and 'Enquiry Officer' to look into complaints of mismanagement of a Cooperative Management Institute. Dr.Khurana has been awarded number of scholarships by foreign Governments and International Organisations for visiting U.K., USA, Hungary, Russia, Italy, France, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Brazil, Bangladesh etc. to study the working of housing cooperatives in those countries and also to participate in International Conferences as a resource person. Dr.Khurana has been honoured by the Cooperative Union of Malaysia for his significant and outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of Cooperative housing movement in the Countries of Asia and the Pacific Region, especially India.
